Tour Highlights
India shares its far eastern border with Myanmar – a country that is rightly called ‘The Golden Land’, not only for the natural resources it holds, but also for all the Golden Pagodas that dot the landscapes of its cities and countryside.
It offers visitors a glimpse of relatively unchanged enchanting land…
Yangon > former capital and the largest city of Myanmar, is famous for a mix of gorgeous colonial architecture and traditional pagodas. The most revered is the stunning Shwedagon Pagoda that believed to have been built 2600years ago. It is covered in glittering gold and studded with precious stones like diamonds, rubies, saffphires, topaz and emeralds.
Bagan > The most popular destination in Myanmar, the capital of the First Burmese Empire from the 9th to the 13th centuries, that Marco Polo once described as the “gilded city”, is a home of over 2000 stupas & temples of varying shapes and sizes. A spectacular site that never fails to enthrall a visitor.
Mandalay > Situated on the bank of river Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) having a variety tourst attractions like Pagodas, Mandalay Palace, a Sunset view from Mandalay Hill, boat-ride to Mingun housing the biggest incomplete stupa & the largest ringing bell, a horse-cart ride in Ava, Amarapura – where over a thousand monks live & study, and U Bein Bridge – a 200 years old longest teak-wood bridge in the world.
Inle Lake > sits in a valley between two mountain ranges and feels like a different world to the rest of Myanmar: wooden houses on stilts, floating gardens, fishermen propelling their boats using a distinctive leg-rowing technique of wrapping one leg around their oar, traditional handicraft workshops of silk weaver, silversmiths, hand-made cheroot (traditional local cigar) & boat making, and a chance to meet the long neck Padaung women of Kayan Lahwi ethnic tribe… are some of the attractions.
